About Carey Hamilton

Since being elected to the Indiana House of Representatives in 2016, Carey Hamilton has fought hard for working Hoosiers in District 87 and across the state. She currently serves as the Democratic Caucus Chair in the Indiana House and is a member of the Ethics, Utilities / Energy / Telecommunications and Roads / Transportation committees, as well as the EV Product Commission. She is also the founder and co-chair of the bi-partisan Indiana Legislative Trails Caucus.

Most recently, an executive in the climate tech sector, she has also served as a nonprofit leader and has worked in the environmental field for more than 20 years. During her career, she has managed various policy development initiatives and public outreach programs. Hamilton is a graduate of Pike High School in Indianapolis and has a bachelor’s degree from Indiana University-Bloomington. She lives in Indianapolis with her husband Derek, who is a co-owner of an Indianapolis small business, and has two adult children.
